Project: Population Projections Line Chart
On selecting the line chart to display population projections with, users are presented with a empty set of cartesian graph axes, and a range of interactive selection lists, along with other controls (sliders and buttons) which are initially disabled from use.
Users should use these to define specific sub-population characteristics from the full UK population, and then interrogate and modify the chart display to suit their needs.
Initial blank chartable area presented to user after secreting the line chart to display population projections.
First population data line added, displaying full UK population, (i.e. all options selected on all selection lists)
Additional population data line added, after modifying the selection criteria via selection lists. Here, only ‘Females’ are displayed. Note the line-specific summary spark-lines to the right-hand side of the main chart.
The maximum number of [five] projection data lines are now displayed, with an associated spark-lines in the righthand margin.
The same five data lines as in the previous image, but now with the y-axis transitioned to display ‘percentage of full UK population’ as opposed to ‘absolute counts’. Axis transitioning is achieved via the small circle #/% icon to the base of the vertical slider. Note the start and end values displayed on the spark-lines also update accordingly.
